It’s that time of year again! The birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming…and fashion atrocities are being committed in record numbers. #1 offender at some of the more modern proms: the garter. What is the purpose of wearing a garter to a prom? Are you afraid you’ll never have the opportunity to wear one on your wedding day??? Is it a handy place to keep your ‘tips’? Whatever the reason, this is just WRONG. Think of it this way…when your date sees that you’re wearing a garter, he’ll pretty much assume that he’s getting some. Please, don’t be THAT girl at the prom.

This is my first post and I just want to give you a little information about my blog.  As a self-proclaimed purveyor of all things ‘proper’, I have to admit that I have little tolerance for fashion faux-pas  and blatant disrespect for etiquette. That being said, I will also admit that there’s nothing wrong with sometimes being ‘daring’ when it comes to creating new looks and changing your style, but there is something wrong with, say, mixing plaids and stripes.  I don’t claim to be the fashion messiah or anything, but I DO know there’s a not-so-thin line between haute and hot mess. 

I  understand that everyone (yes, everyone) has a fashion mishap or social slip-up every now and then. The important thing is that your learn from your mistakes and don’t repeat them! As far as fashion is concerned, we all have our preferences, but some things are just undeniable (read: patent leather clothing = a huge no-no). And you can be sure I’ll never steer you wrong as far as etiquette is concerned, as the rules have been drilled into my head over the years. I can’t promise that some egos won’t get bruised from time to time, but I’ll do my best to dispense my knowledge in the most delicate way possible. After all, anything else would be in bad taste!
